As the FCC voted to repeal net neutrality, LightEdge wanted to take this time and explain our company’s stance and how this will affect customers. LightEdge will continue to provide the tools and capabilities for Quality of Service and traffic management at no additional charge to our customers. While data privacy is important to us, we are not involved in controlling, modifying, inspecting or policing customer traffic.
While we don’t know what impact net neutrality will have on the broader environment of network providers, LightEdge relies on and peers with other networks. In LightEdge’s network, we peer with Tier I transport providers that provide a premium level of service. Additionally, we partner with a variety of Tier I, II, and III providers to give customers unparalleled access to network choice.
LightEdge has been, and always will be, a company that is heavily involved in managing and transporting “mission critical” workloads and traffic. We operate our own backbone between key locations and hybrid solution centers.
Net neutrality is the principle that internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or websites. Although there are negative aspects that may arise with the repeal of Net Neutrality regulations, there is potential for many positive outcomes. Internet carriers may be able to provide new capabilities such as Quality of Service for voice services across the internet.
No matter what your position is, with LightEdge as a partner, our mission is to provide you with a choice. You will be insulated from risks such as a carrier choosing to de-prioritize important traffic for your business. Customers can easily access alternative providers from LightEdge’s Hybrid Solution Centers. Choice matters, and that is or core strategy.
