Critical IT Capacity
Looking for colocation or cloud services close to you?
How to choose your infrastructure partner.
Your data is one of your most valuable assets–so we’ve put together a list of five key factors you should consider as you evaluate potential facilities for colocation and private cloud providers.
Premise Security
Does your colocation partner provide adequate security for equipment and infrastructure?
Check for external security (fences, site access, locks, gates, security guards, windows, and parking structures) and internal security (dual-factor identification in cages, individual locks, biometrics, card-accessed doors, and cameras monitored 24/7/365).
Compliance certifications
Does your colocation provider adhere to the standards you need to run your business?
Always ask for third-party audit results and certifications of potential partners.
Key certifications include PCI, HIPAA, and HITRUST.
Redundant power supply
Ask how long your data center can run in the event of a power outage. What level of service can they provide on backup power? Do they have redundant, isolated-path power architecture?
Look for 100% Service-Level Agreements for power and redundant power systems.
Efficient cooling
Can the facility reliably deliver cold air at the appropriate volume required to cool very high computing densities? Is the cooling infrastructure scalable?
Modern server racks require efficient cooling.
Multi-homed internet bandwidth
Does your provider provide sufficient bandwidth with multiple redundant Tier 1 providers, with high-capacity fiber and routing?
Your applications and workloads depend on connectivity.
