Hybrid cloud is an IT model that runs a single set of workloads across two or more environments, typically on-premises infrastructure, private cloud, and public cloud connected so that data and applications can move between them. The goal is placement: running each workload in the environment that best fits its performance, cost, latency, and regulatory requirements, rather than forcing every workload into one location. Most enterprises arrive at hybrid cloud gradually, through acquisition, modernization, or regulatory constraint, rather than choosing it deliberately at the outset.

Lightedge provides the underlying data center capacity, the network connectivity between environments, the management layer, and the engineering team that runs it. This includes migration, ongoing operations, security monitoring, and cost optimization rather than infrastructure alone.

It is built for mid-market and enterprise organizations that operate in regulated industries, run workloads that cannot move entirely to public cloud, or lack the internal headcount to manage multiple environments. Lightedge works most often with financial services, healthcare and life sciences, insurance, manufacturing, logistics, energy, consumer goods, SaaS companies and much more. The common thread is a mixed estate, often including IBM Power, VMware, or Nutanix workloads alongside AWS or Azure, combined with a compliance obligation that makes environment choice a governance decision, not just a technical one.

Engagements begin with a cloud readiness assessment that inventories your current workloads and identifies where each one should run based on performance, cost, dependency, and compliance requirements.
